A Food Checklist For Your Barbecue Sunday
If you’ve decided to hold a barbecue during the weekend, as many people do, you might find it a good idea to have a quick checklist of the items you will need. You can always add to these as you need to but if you find it too much to take in, entrust the task to a
BBQ caterer!
• Barbecue
• Matches
• Charcoal if necessary or gas
• Cutlery, plates, napkins and plastic cups (this avoids washing up and your nice glasses getting smashed)
• Seating and tables – don’t forget to provide a few chairs – not everyone can eat and stand
• Belly pork, pork chops or medals
• Sausages (of course – nearly forgot them!)
• Chicken drumsticks and legs
• Salmon (you can cook this nicely in its own juices in tin foil)
• Mushrooms and peppers
• Potatoes
• Corn on the cob (God knows why anyone likes this)
• Kebab sticks
• Separate BBQ tray to cook vegetarian food (ok I confess this isn’t strictly necessary but a personal request!)
• Spare ribs
• Big bowl of salad
• Rice and/or pasta side dishes
• Cheese and onions on sticks (ok not strictly BBQ food, but kids love ‘em)
• Drinks – alcohol and non alcohol, including wine and beer
• Desserts – not strictly necessary but some people like something sweet after savory. Cakes always go down well as do ice cream if it is a hot day, although you won’t be able to leave the ice cream out for people to help themselves to.
