Choosing food for BBQs
To many
BBQs mean meat simply, and within meat many people struggle to think beyond burgers and hotdogs. This is perhaps why many people dislike BBQs, expecting them to be some slightly charred barely edible and barely identifiable lumps of processed meat. BBQs though when done well are as good as any style of food and the flavor is hard to beat.
It doesn’t even have to be just meat you BBQ and of course you will usually have plenty of salads and other accompanying dishes. If you are using a catering company to put on a BBQ then they can advise you on all areas of the food. Think about Barbequing foods that include vegetables such as kebabs with meat and vegetables but also foods like onion, peppers and mushrooms, which are delicious when Barbequed. There are a wide range of great vegetarian burgers and other dishes you can choose for those who don’t like meat or simply want something a little healthier or different. Some try to resemble meat whereas others such as bean burgers are just great food full stop. With the meat you choose think beyond burgers and sausages, chicken is great if cooked properly and evenly, steak as well of course tastes great on a BBQ. Seafood as well BBQs nicely: king prawn skewers of course but also fish like mackerel.
