Handy Tips To Follow When Using Infrared Barbecues
Infrared barbecues are the latest rage in grills with their fast heating and cooking abilities. They don’t rely on charcoal but use gas. The difference lies in how heat is conducted up to the cooking surface. Instead of flames, the gas heats layers of stainless steel and a ceramic top to distribute heat evenly across food.
For first-timers, it’s important to understand how to use infrared barbecues. This will ensure that foodstuffs don’t char and you’re left with perfect results.
• Pre-heat the grill for three minutes to ensure an even grilling area. Since infrared grills attain high temperatures very fast, sear food on either side for not more than three minutes.
• After the outer areas are seared, minimize the temperature to ‘simmer’. To check if the food is cooked, always use a food thermometer as cutting it open will cause food to dry out.
• Once it’s cooked, let it sit for three to five minutes. This is an important step since infrared grills continue to cook food even after it’s removed from the barbecue.
• When cooking, there’s no need to close the lid as there is no loss of heat unlike conventional grills. Instead, use the lid to cover the grill when not in use.
